Why Caring Matters Most Now…

We’re all creatures of habit. Despite our individuality, we like routine, we have our go-to approach, we take a lot for granted, and we sometimes lose sight of how our actions affect others.

Now, peoples' struggles are more obvious. We hear their stories, have empathy for their situation and realize we're all in this together.

As individuals, we are more overtly caring about family and friends. As employers, we are more overtly caring about people who work hard for us. As brand leaders, we’re more overtly caring about customers & communities.

We’ve become motivated to care for each other. This groundswell of empathy makes us more aware, thoughtful, supportive, innovative, generous & kind. In turn, we’re finding ourselves drawn to those who make a positive difference in our lives.

There’s an important lesson in all of this for people, businesses & brands - one that I hope resonates long after Coronavirus...

It’s that caring goes a long way. Caring opens our eyes others' needs. Caring makes us better able to support in ways that matter most. Caring strengthens our connection to those who care in return.

This post is part of a series of thoughts during the Coronavirus Pandemic. At this point, the economy is still on hold as everyone is sheltering in place and non-essential businesses are closed.
